VIRTUAL CASTING SERIES at SONOMA CERAMICS

In this virtual workshop, Sandra will demonstrate how she casts and assembles parts to make elegant compound forms from plaster molds.  She will give a brief artist talk about her work, her process, and her surface design that incorporates sulfates, decals, and glaze into elegant compositions.  She will demo building sake bottles and her 3-footed bowl design.  This workshop will be taught in English and Sandra will be able offer answers and clarification to native Spanish as well.

All students will receive the Zoom recording of the workshop to watch at their convenience for 30 days after the workshop.  

Sonoma Ceramics and Sonoma Community Center presents The Casting Series – a virtual series showcasing the diverse studio practices and work of artists who use molds to form ceramics.  Theories, philosophies, and techniques are shared through virtual visits to the artist’s studios.  The series is designed to show an array of processes from the traditional to the unexpected and inventive.  Expect to unsettle your assumptions about design, mold making, casting, and production in this virtual series produced and hosted by mold maker and ceramicist Kala Stein.

Zoom Format: Artist will present a brief artist talk followed by a demonstration showing how they use molds to make their extraordinary work.  Hosted by Kala Stein who will present your questions to the artist in real time. The workshops will be sent to you within 24 hours and will be available to watch for 30 days.
